2010 Hawaiian Music Award

On Saturday, September 25, Friends of the Royal Hawaiian Band board members Ricardo Trimillos, Jay Junker and David Bandy joined forces to enjoy the 2010 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade and judge the bands who particpated in the Hawaiian Music Award Competition.

Since this prestigious award was re-activated, the number of bands competing has grown each year.  Of the ten bands that participated in the parade, seven competed for the monetary prizes awarded by the Friends.  Our goal for the future is to achieve a 100% participation rate, so that all high school and middle school bands are performing Hawaiian music, not only in this parade, but in all local parades.
